Ilkka A.T Virtanen

Ilkka A.T Virtanen has held management positions in multinational corporates in the metals & mining technology sector as well as high-tech electronics industry. He is specialized in Financial Business Management, Corporate Finance, Export Finance, Business Development and Strategy.

He worked as CFO of VTI Technologies Oy (VTI, 2007-2010), a SME company in high-tech motion sensor business at the time owned by private equity company EQT. Ilkka was a shareholder of the company until it was sold to Murata, Japan. He was responsible for business and financial control, corporate finance, corporate governance and legal issues, strategy and M&A.

Before joining VTI he worked as SVP Business Development in Outotec Oyj, having responsibility of executing the IPO of Outokumpu Technology, which became Outotec Oyj in 2006, as well as overall strategy and M&A. Before that he worked as CFO, Outokumpu Technology (2002-2006), a multinational mining & metals technology company. His responsibilities included financial and business control, corporate finance, commercial and risk management, communication, IT and strategy. During 1999-2002 he worked as Business Controller of Outokumpu Technology – Pyrometallurgy (Outokumpu Engineering Contractors Oy), a EUR 60 million copper, zinc and ferro-chromium technology business.

During 1995-1999, he worked as VP, Project and Trade Finance, Outokumpu Technology, developing business through export and trade finance in emerging markets. Before that he worked in Outokumpu Group corporate finance (1987-1995), and was Head of Treasury during 1990-1995. Before that, during his studies, he worked in Postipankki (today Danske Bank) in Treasury and International Bonds.

Ilkka has also experience of several risk management projects. He has also been responsible for corporate governance and has worked as board member in various group companies and as secretary of the board both in Outokumpu Technology Oy (Outotec Oyj) and in VTI Technologies Oy.

He holds M.Sc. Economics (International Business), Vaasa University (1994).
